Scholarship Details

The doctoral fellowship will be awarded to the students enrolled in Doctoral programs in India or Canada. Eligible students who are enrolled in a degree course at any recognized Indian/Canadian universities or institutions to research in areas/fields in which Indian scholars may desire/require research experience in Canada/India can submit their applications for the same. The programs offered by the India office are financially supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. This Program will provide an opportunity for a transformative cultural and educational experience.

Award

Award Value for Doctoral Students

  • The selected fellows will be awarded 560 CAD per week.
  • This will be given up to six (6) months of duration.
  • Economy class airfare from the place of origin to the place of affiliation from the most direct route will also be given
  • Visa fee & Compliance fee
  • Overseas Insurance
  • Research Allowance (inclusive in stipend)

Award Value for Post-Doctoral Students

  • The selected fellows will be awarded 590 CAD per week.
  • This will be given up four (4) months of duration.
  • Economy class airfare from the place of origin to the place of affiliation from the most direct route will also be given
  • Visa fee & Compliance fee
  • Overseas Insurance
Eligibility

For Doctoral Students

  • This fellowship is available for both male and female students.
  • He/She must be registered/admitted for full-time Ph.D. in an Indian/Canadian university
  • Applicant’s synopsis should have been approved by the competent authority before the last date of submission of application with SICI.
  • The applicant’s university/institution must be from member institutions of SICI. List of Member Institutions of SICI https://www.shastriinstitute.org/member-council
  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of India or Canada.
  • The applicant must be proficient in oral and written English.
  • He/she must be in the age group of 21 years to 35 years.

For Post-Doctoral Students

  • The applicant must have a doctoral degree awarded by Indian or Canadian University/ institution.
  • An applicant must be registered as a postdoctoral fellow with a member Institution of SICI.
  • Upon doctoral degree award, one can apply and applications must be made within five years of receiving a doctoral degree.
  • The applicant must be proficient in oral and written English.
  • He/she must be in the age group of 30 years to 45 years.
Documents Needed

For Doctoral Students

  • The doctoral fellow is required to obtain ‘Supervisor authorization’ from his/her supervisor/research guide before applying for the application.
  • Applicants should provide two reference letters of which one of the letters must be from their thesis supervisor/HoD.
  • A letter of invitation/affiliation from the host faculty is a must and the affiliate should be from member institution of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute.
  • The applicant must hold proficiency in oral and written English.
  • The applicant should request his/her supervisor to declare in the reference letter that the synopsis of his/her thesis has been approved and also indicate the stage of research.
  • Certificate of Ethical Approval (if applicable).
  • Photocopy of the applicant’s Passport.
  • Incomplete applications will not be entertained
  • Employer’s endorsement is must submit ( in case of employed)

For Post-Doctoral Students

  • Applicant must submit the Proof of Post-doctoral or applicant’s admission to Postdoctoral fellowship should have been approved at the time of applying.
  • Letter of invitation/affiliation from the host faculty is a must and the affiliate should be from member institution of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute.
  • Minimum of two reference/support letters to be provided towards your candidature for the award.
  • Employer’s endorsement’ letter from the head of the department/Institution/ with the application.
  • The applicant should be proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Certificate of Ethical Approval (if applicable).
  • Photocopy of the Passport.
